In recent weeks, we’ve seen a deeply worrying shift in global politics, with rising policies that threaten the rights of women, trans individuals, LGBTQ+ communities, and other marginalised groups. In the United States, one such policy by Meta—removing period products from all men’s bathrooms—has sparked a wave of outrage and concern. It is an action that goes far beyond the simple matter of access to period products; it is a direct attack on the rights of trans men and non-binary individuals, as well as a step back for menstrual justice as a whole.
At Bloody Good Period, we’ve always stood for a world where menstruation is free from stigma or barriers. Period products in all bathrooms—whether men's, women’s, or gender-neutral—should be a given. For trans men and non-binary individuals, this is about much more than access; it’s about dignity and the recognition of their identity and needs. The removal of these basic necessities sends a harmful message: that their needs don’t matter. But we are here to say: trans rights are non-negotiable.
What we are witnessing globally is a dangerous and concerted effort to erase and marginalise trans and non-binary people, alongside a rise in far-right rhetoric that fuels hate, division, and exclusion. These shifts are more than troubling—they actively harm the communities we care about most. But while these developments are undeniably worrying, they also provide us with an opportunity to act—to resist, to build solidarity, and to strengthen our communities.
Let’s be clear: trans rights are not up for debate.
The very existence of trans people is not subject to legislation. No policy, no law, and no action can erase the existence of trans people. Trans men menstruate. Trans women exist. And they all deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and full access to healthcare and period products.
The truth is that menstrual justice is inherently linked to the fight for trans rights. When businesses and governments remove products from public spaces, it creates unnecessary hurdles for people who are already dealing with the challenges of navigating a world that is not built with their needs in mind. The same policies that attempt to erase the existence of trans people are the same ones that seek to limit access to period products, reproductive health, and basic bodily autonomy.
This is why Bloody Good Period will continue to push back against harmful policies that impact our communities. We will not allow menstrual justice to be weaponised against trans individuals.
Investing in Community: Resilience, Hope, and Solidarity
In the face of adversity, we must continue to invest in the communities we serve. We need to build resilience, foster hope, and organise for change. We are not just advocating for menstrual justice—we are advocating for a world where all people, no matter their gender identity, race, immigration status, or background, are treated with respect. We know that the fight for menstrual justice is not an isolated one; it is connected to the broader fight for equality and human rights for all.
We will continue to stand firm, to amplify the voices of those who are so often silenced, and to push for a future where the rights of everyone who has a period are recognised as fundamental human rights.
Together, we resist. We break the silence, rewrite the narrative, and push for menstrual justice. We are asking you to join us in fighting for the world we all deserve. Sign up to join the Period Revolution.
By joining, you’ll become part of a community dedicated to change, taking bold action to normalise periods, end stigma, and create a future where no one is held back by their period—or their identity.
Let’s stand together and rewrite the narrative.
